Marijuana is probably going to be legalized quite soon in the United States. The reasoning behind it is quite strong, and is not to be completely dismissed. After all, many have been arrested, and quite a few tax dollars have been missed out since it is not legal. But caution must be taken if this is to be the road society decides to take with Marijuana, as our mentality with it terribly close to what it was Tobacco in the 1960s.
One major reason why people have been pushing its legalization is that many believe the dangers of Marijuana have been overstated, and to a certain extent, they have been. One cannot overdose on it, and claims of getting bronchitis from it is unlikely, but many other diseases like cancer may be caused by it, though due to the lack of large scale studies, it may not. However, despite the lack of research, a google search about this will not disappoint potheads that want their ears tickled. Some groups go as far as saying that Marijuana can cure cancer (it cannot, only helps return appetite to patients).
Despite the lack of knowledge in regards of conventional diseases, Marijuana has been shown rather more conclusively to be corrosive to the mind. Mental illnesses such psychosis and other psychotic disorders. Also, as many as 10 IQ point could be lost due to marijuana usage after a few years. Yet many in society treat these warnings as a legacy of a old-fashioned mentality towards the drug. This, along with the tendency of people to ignore warnings against risky recreational activities that they enjoy, we will reap the fruits of our ignorance. All I can hope is that we figure this out sooner than later.

In the past year, people have been talking endlessly about what to do about ISIS. Some want to carpet bomb the desert until it becomes a glass sea, others want to arm "moderates" to fight ISIS on the west's behalf, and some nutters (ok, alot of nutters in the GOP) want boots on the ground to fight them ourselves. Well, you know what we should do. Nothing.
It should be rather obvious that bombing ISIS is simply not enough to defeat them, as there will always be others to take the place of those we have eviscerated. So some may say we should arm the rebels. Well these "moderates" are in truth people that you wouldn't invite for brewskies. These people, although less extremist than ISIS (like that's saying a lot) are still people that support tyranny & Sharia and probably want to kill us in the future (look at Libya as a case study). Truth be told, the closest thing there is in this conflict that could be considered moderate is Al-Assad, who despite bombing his own people like a madman, is someone who is willing to listen to the west, and has a much better track record as a competent secular leader. If anything, it is a blessing of sorts that Russia is getting involved to support Assad. This way, we have someone else do the dirty work, and we can watch.
Jokes aside, we really cannot do much when it comes to this conflict. We have no cultural, religious nor economic reason to be there. The people in Syria don't seem terribly keen on us coming there either. So truth be told, despite that terrible things that are happening, we simply cannot do anything about ISIS. We must sit and wait.

Youz da fat myan
I'm fat, you fat, we are all fat! But why is this? Is it because of corporations? Is it because of big conspiracy to get people to like sugar and fat despite the fact that we have a natural disposition to those things? Well, I'm not a nutritionist, but I think I know why, and its to do with our relationship with food.
Before you think that I'm about to go on some Quinoa tainted rant about some food industrial complex, I must stress that I'm not a hippy since I do in fact shower. With that out of the way, my belief in our relationship with food boils down to one thing, hunger. In this country, although there are people who are truly hungry, most people don't have the slightest clue of what it is. Sure they may have the concept, the experience is pretty absent. Without hunger, the natural alarm that told us when we should eat is dead. Instead, we eat because we are bored as shit, we eat because it is the socially accepted time frame to eat. Eating is now an activity, not a necessity. Now that we no longer have an incentive to respect consumption, its almost as if consumption has no incentive to not consume us. Yep.

Any recent visit to the media giant MSNBC, a land where any opposite opinion is racist, and you may realize a growing trend. Every anchor on that "news" channel talks about how the Republican establishment has begun to move farther and farther right (which it has), while talking about how the Democrats have remained moderate. The entire time you see Mr. Al Sharpton, Miss Maddow or any of the other cast they have over there, they keep obsessing in their delusional bubbles about how Democrats are the cool headed, non-partisan, moderate citizens that are fighting in their eyes the evil and extremist political machine known as the Republican Party.
But the reality is very different. Since the Bush years, the proportion of people that identify themselves as "moderates" within the Democratic party has dropped from 44% in to 36% while people who self identify as "liberal" within the Democratic party has risen from 29% to 43%.(Gallup 1992-2013) . People on the outside also agree. If you direct your attention about 5 inches left, you will see a Pew study that shows that despite others clearly thinking otherwise, the left believes that it is truly moderate, and their delusion is starting to hurt their standings among actual moderates, as shown with Mitt Romney garnering a larger proportion of independent votes compared to Obama (Though it must be said the difference was around 1%). How this disillusion among the left may play out among the left has yet to be seen, since I am not a political soothsayer. In fact, possibly nothing at all will happen. But, there is a slim chance that this dream can lead the Democrats to go even further left and with already 46% saying that the party is too left (compared to 43% saying that the Republicans are too right wing, albeit a small margin) This trend can lead for a greater push for a third party. But for now, with about a third of Conservative Americans feeling down on the Republican party, with infighting becoming a common theme, no force is strong enough to end this delusion. 1.(Gallup 2009 "More Americans see Democratic Party as Too Liberal")) |
Grow Mo Got Stuff
Recently, activists from all over the world rallied again the great evil Genetically Modified Crops (GMOs). They marched for "better" food, specifically organic production to be expanded. They rallied against their perceived idea that GMOs are unnatural, and go against nature. They truly believe that what they are doing, is going to help the world.
Although the some actions that some of the companies that practice agricultural science are undoubtedly un-ethical and changes need to be made , GMOs themselves present no real threat. Though some of the results of new seeds are not as effective as once thought, any new technology needs time to improve. And, in a world that needs to feed more people, on the same amount of land, with less water, more dramatic shifts in the environment ect, GMOs can provide a way forward. Yet those against are stubborn, saying that man is messing with mother nature the wrong way, and thus must be stopped. Yet then again, wasn't man messing around with nature when men domesticated wheat, rice, cows and horses? Wasn't man messing around with conceived notions of nature when man created nuclear fusion and space travel? If anything, this is the left coping the right's tactics against gay marriage of using the "natural" card for their own uneducated crusade against a legitimate technology that can help millions. Yet the far left's classical response is that GMOs lead to fish genes are being put into vegetables, thus the whole technology is dangerous(it was actually an isolated experiment) , which is the same logic used by a right wing nut job using the idea the his or her grandfather is not a monkey, thus evolution does not exist.
And what if they win? What if GMOs are really banned? The true losers are not in the rich world, where people can afford overpriced (and over hyped) organic food. Instead, farmers in the poor world lose, as they lose the chance to feed more mouths with less, a chance to better themselves and their families, a chance for a better future. But all of that is being taken away by this flood of stupidity. Well Shit.

In the last post I had, I talked to myself about how America has no business in Crimea. I still stand by that belief, but with the recent event in the Ukrainian mainland, something has to be down. So far, America has been pussy footing, putting pressure only on a few powerful Putin supporters, but due to the widespread popularity of his actions in Ukraine, Putin frankly has little to worry about. But, increasing the sanctions could cause severe trouble due to the fact that Russia is such a major player in the energy sector. The best course of action, to send a clear message to Russia, is to try and start a revolution in Belarus, or another major authoritarian ally to Russia. If successful, the vibrations can inspire the opposition in Russia to give Putin a run for his money. Even if it is not successful, a show of force in the face of the Russian bear can unnerve the Kremlin, showing that American ain't messin'.
Step Off Amurica
Recently, Russia has Annexed Crimea... and Crimea wanted it. But the entire world has decided to shit itself over this, and decided to attack Russia over this. Well, lets start at the beginning, when pro-European protesters overthrew Ukraine's corrupt, Pro-Russian President. Now, that is all find and dandy, but right afterward, despite the wishes of the general public, who had elected the man due to his Pro-Russia stance, instead put in someone who was the direct ideological opposite. This means that the electoral wishes of the country as a whole was broken, and thus the government in place is illegitimate. Yet despite this, the west supports the government in place, and is angry at Russia for annexing Crimea despite a vote pointing in that direction. Admittedly, the election did have some major irregularities, but, even polls done by western sources point to Annexation as the wish of Crimean people. Yet despite this, America, still swaggering on with its sense of "realpolitik" is doing things based on what its allies want, not what is right. But, the US is in no position to piss off Europe... so what should it do? Well, nothing. We have no business in Ukraine, and for once, the Europeans should figure out how to take care of their own affairs.
Shot in the head obvias
In the news today, all you hear is politicians and activists talking about guns, guns, guns. Should make them harder to get, or would that hurt the average person from protecting himself? I personally think that having one, maybe two common sense regulations like p.revention the insane from getting guns. But has anyone ever thought of helping the insane? After all, nearly all of the recent shootings and attacks have involves people who have been either radicalized, whether it be to jihad or to overly nationalistic, to people who have gone insane, lacking any mental help nor social skills. The time wasted on guns, could be better spent on fixing mental healthcare. Unlike other issues, I think that this won't cause nearly a polarization, and could actually help society more than banning guns. Not only would these people not have the capacity to commit the same horrible crimes we have become too accustomed to seeing, but we may actually make them into productive members of society. Sounds good don't it.
Modarn Shards
Art todays is litterally shit. But before I go on a rant about how pissed I am, lets look at art in the good ol' days. It used to be that people who put in years of work perfectingtheir skills, and then get chosen by royal courts were the people that set the standard of fine art. From the old masters in Italy to the impressive pieces from the French courts of Louis the sun king and later Napoleon (Though I will admit that his art was for more propoganda than for human enjoyment), people used to create art that required effort, heart and talent.
Now fast foward to the last days of decent art. The late 1800s early 1900s had greats such as Van Gogh and Edvard Munch. But then Picasso (who had some talent), followed by Andy Warhol (who would have a fetish for hitting ctrl-c followed by ctrl-v if was alive when laptops existed). Nowadays, art is shit, with asshole throwing paint at a canvas and say that it shows their emotions ( Im looking at you Mr. Pollock) and just drawing lines. Some people call it minimalism, and I agree for it requires a minimal amount of brain power to call it art without having the urge to slap yourself. Now art is more of an life style you take from trends rather than a trade you give your life to. It really is a shame.

Aren't you supposedd to be a trash can
I really dont why anyone cares about the oscars, why anyone cares about rich celebrities getting awards. Why anyone cares about the movie choices of a few stuffy movie writers. I mean, doesn't kinda bother you that of 300,000,000 in this country, and millions more throughout the world that watch American films, only 6,000 choose which films are the best. I dont care that your voting block consists of "the most gifted and skilled artists and craftsmen in the motion picture world" (from the oscars.org website ). All I care about is if this is a movie that I want to see, and rotten tomatoes does a good job of it. So the only reason for the oscars is so that the actors can dress up in gaudy designer crap, say stupid shit in their speeches, and drain away society's brain cells. Nothing else
Fuck You Sam Freedman
The recent tragedy in Sandy Hook has been something that has taken our attention from the gibberish we call everyday life, and realize the importance of living and the gift that is given and can just as easily be taken away. Yet for others, this is gift to tell for them to push their ideology on others like Mr. Freedman. He decided to talk about how there was a lack of Humanists in his article "In a Crisis, Humanists seem absent" despite the fact that every family that lost someone in the tragedy wanted and had a religious service. Frankly, what these people do with your love ones is none of your fucking business Mr. Freedman (pardon my french). I'm pretty sure that if someone were to say that more Christianity was needed, that person would be attacked as insensitive and backwards, so why is promoting atheism during a tragedy any better? Do you think that because you lack a god also means that you are suddenly on a higher moral ground? That each family that lost a love one needs to also submit to every belief possible including the absence of one when frankly, this is just a small part of remembering the ones who were lost? Just think about it.
(It must be said of myself that I am ignostic to agnostic, then again, I'm not sure, maybe I'm diagnostic)

We know stuff cause we um, we just do
Have you noticed that celebrities have recently gotten more and more active in everything from politics to random causes, yet in reality, they probably dont know shit. The most recent example was when all of Hollywood was in a video about how we should makes illegal due to the recent tragedies that involved firearms. Although I am for some of the things that they are for, I still hate it because it doesn't end there. From seeing Sheryl Crow talking about slavery as if she was an expert on the History Channel to Donald Trump expressing his skewed and strange views on society, all celebrities seem to do is to add to the insanity called modern society due to the fact that we think they know anything just because they can read a few lines and look pretty. Before I go on a rant, I might as well get to the point... Celebrities.. Fuck Off.
I just have to tell you about what I did t'day
A 19 year old woman in Nebraska has robbed a bank and stole a car. Although this sounds not that exciting, wait until you find out what she did next. She thought it would be a good idea to tell the public what she did, but not anonymously on some local paper or something like that, but on Youtube, where about 800,000 people have seen it. Watching the video is nauseating 7 minute trip down Bimbo lane. As she blasts Green Day music, she puts all the details of the heist, along with video evidence of the money and the amount, an ounce of weed she had an car keys to the Pontiac she stole. She also doesn't cover up her face or even attempt to hide her identity as she puts the dumbest sub titles at the bottom (one example was when she had keys in her hand and all she could say was "It is shiny") Then she realized that she should try to hide her self.... by putting the video picture backwards. I guess the Mayans were right about this year...
You listen to your vegetables now?
Probably one of the best news agencies in the world, the onion news network seems to always get bandwagon jumpers around the world. The most recent example is a Major mainland Chinese newspaper talking about the Onion article about Kim Jong-UN being considered the sexiest man alive. Farther back in time, Iran thought America was ready for some crazy Jihad shit when the Onion said that more Americans prefer Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the time bomb (literally) of a leader that Iran has over Obama. But still, in all seriousness, they really should have sat down and just thoughts about it. It's known neither will ever be true, and wouldn't some bells go off if no other news organization except the one who's viewership involves 30 year old virgins and kids who think their cool. Well, apparently that didn't occur to them. They're Fucked
I can burn money faster than 2 Chainz burns brain cells.
A few days ago, I saw the biggest joke, that would be funny if it wasn't for the fact that it was real. No, it's not the big deal over the Bieber Gomez lesbian relation. No, it's not the vampire brokeback mountain flick that's made 300 mill. It's something called "Rich Kids of Instagram". All it is a bunch of of rich kids showing what hot shit the are *cough* faggots *cough*. The entire thing is them showing off cars, jewlery, credit cards, planes ,mansions. This is why rich people are hated in this country because not only do alot (not all of them are ass wipes) of them show off there money big time, they do it in a way that makes them look like assholes. So advice to rich people and their kids.... Fuck off.
No mo' dough
1.8 billion. That's how much money was raised by Obama and Romney to fund their campaigns
4 billlion. That's how much was spent when you add in the Senate and house races
100 million. That's how much Obama out raised Mitt Romney
Although I certainly hope people are not easily swayed by TV ads and what not, the results say differently. In recent history, only two candidates, Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan (both first time running) won the election with less money, but the amount was not to much different, with Bob dole raising 15 million more and Reagan's difference being made up with 7 million in government primary matching receipts. Why should democracy be allowed to be swayed by money? Why should we the people waste our own money on politicians and watch the rich force those who want to brainwash and crappify (You say it's not a word?, well no it is) the airwaves with political crap. How do we do this? Expect more from politicians, don't buy into crap and vote for shit you believe in. It's really that simple.
